| The MCAT assesses mastery of basic concepts in biology, chemistry, and physics; facility with scientific problem solving and critical thinking; and writing skills. The MCAT exam lasts 5 hours, 45 minutes. Efficient pacing is essential for success. Verbal Reasoning includes 65 questions in 85 minutes. The verbal section includes 9 reading comprehension passages. Physical Sciences includes 77 questions in 100 minutes. Most questions are organized into groups, each preceded by a descriptive passage. Biological Sciences includes 77 questions in 100 minutes. This test, like the Physical Sciences test, organizes most questions into groups that follow a descriptive passage. Writing Sample includes 2 questions in 60 minutes written in response to a prompt. |
