Computer Adapted GRE (CAT)
(One-on-one Instruction)

The Computer Adapted GRE is a shortened version of the old paper-and-pencil test. It lasts 2 hours, 15 minutes and includes:

  •  One 30-minute, 30 question
"verbal ability" (vocabulary
     and reading) test that consists of

> antonyms
> sentence completions
> analogies
> reading comprehension

     a strong vocabulary background is essential

  •   One 40-minute, 28 question "quantitative ability"
      (math) section that includes

             > four-choice quantitative comparisons
> five-choice problem solving questions
> charts

      the content is based on high school level math


  •    Two Analytical writing sections that include

              > A 45-minute "Present Your Perspective on an Issue" task, where you
                state your opinion on an issue of general interest.
> A 30-minute "Analytical Argument" task, where you critique an
                argument for logical soundness

Instruction at Focus on Learning Center

One-on-one instruction is the most beneficial and cost effective preparation.  We use your previous GRE score or an on-line test taken at the Focus on Learning Center as a base score.  Your individualized program will be set up based on

  •    the requirements of your graduate program
  •    your consultation 
       the program may range between 4-20 hrs with trained subject specialist-   
       coaches)
